Wij Zijn Natuur
Singer Laren

From May to August 2025, the exhibition We Are Nature, based on the life philosophy of Princess Irene of Lippe-Biesterfeld, was on display at Museum Singer Laren. In the exhibition, she once again drew attention to the profound relationship between humanity and nature. She argues that humanity has placed itself outside of and above nature, with all the consequences that entails. “We have distanced ourselves from nature, while we are an inextricable part of it. By connecting with nature, and thus with each other, we are building together a future in which the well-being of all life is fully realized.” In collaboration with renowned international artists and the exhibition’s art director and curator, Maarten Spruyt, she powerfully conveyed her vision: “Through art, I hope to reach people in their hearts. Artworks by artists (among others): Isghaan Adams, Sjoerd Buisman, Matthew Day Jackson, Chen Zhiguang, Keith Edmier, Henrique Oliveira, Jackie Mulder, Tomás Libertíny and Tineke van der Pouw Kraan serve as
windows onto the interconnectedness of all life. For this identity the power of the scale is central to making choices for formats
such as wall texts and the book. Irene's text is the voice of We Are Nature and
this becomes visible at various sizes but looks exactly the same – as the layout of a reading book that becomes three-dimensional. This encourages the visitor to reflect on the position of human in space in relation to these texts. The choices for paper and font are carefully chosen in relation to Irene’s philosophy and nature.
