Rituals of Transformation, Nicole Beutler

  • Rituals of Transformation (towards a new humanity) is a 2022–2025 climate-themed performance trilogy by choreographer and theater maker Nicole Beutler that confronts the end of the Anthropocene and imagines a renewed relationship between humanity and the earth.

  • Part 1: GINKGO or: 56 million years ago there were palm trees on the North Pole (2022) – A confrontational dance opera serving as a "farewell to the world as we know it," exploring planetary cycles and deep time.
  • Part 2: ATMEN (evolution is silently unfolding) (2023) – An installation-like performance stepping into a hall overgrown with plants and mosses to seek a balanced coexistence between humans, nature, and technology.
  • Part 3: NOW WE ARE EARTH / An Orchestra (2025) – A 100-minute eco-futuristic closing symphony blending dance, choir, and audience as a "moving love declaration to the earth."
